Save Your Hard-to-Recycle Plastics for Recycling!

Take your plastics numbered 1-7 to the
Blair County Yard Waste Compost Recycling Facility ONLY!

The Facility is located in Logan Township,
off Route 36 North of Altoona, on Blacksnake Road.

REGULAR SCHEDULE:
Week of  April 1 to the Saturday before Thanksgiving:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 10 AM to 5 PM
Saturday: 9 AM to 3 PM
*Closed on all County Holidays
WINTER SCHEDULE
Monday of Thanksgiving week to the week of April 1:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 8 AM to 4 PM
No Saturday hours

Drop-off leaves, grass clippings and other soft vegetation in all quantities for FREE!
Standard fees apply brush (trees, bushes, Christmas trees and shrubs).

Directions to the Compost Facility in Logan Township
From Altoona, take Route 36 North to Skyline Drive.  Make a right turn onto Skyline Drive then a quick left turn onto Blacksnake Road.  The Compost Facility is located about ¼ mile down Blacksnake Road.  Please follow the signs from Route 36. 

 

Quick Reminders

  • These items are ONLY accepted at the Compost Facility.
  • Before arriving at the Compost Facility, rinse and sort your materials.
  • DO NOT put these items in your curbside bin, or bring them to any other drop-off location.  Plastic bottles and jugs #1 & #2 are the only plastics that belong in your curbside bin or other drop-off location.
